Montana's Restaurant, 1300 Marcus Drive, Sudbury, Ontario
It was a very chilly evening on Wednesday, February 10, 2010 as we arrived at our chosen restaurant as the sun was setting at our backs. While the temperature reading was -9°, with the wind chill factored in it felt more like -19°c.
Upon entering the restaurant, we were immediately brought to our reserved table which turned out to be a cozy setting for us as we awaited the rest of the diners in our group.
Being close to Valentine's day, gifts and cards for the ladies and youngest gentleman were at the ready.
Although our party showed up in spurts, our friendly waitress Chelsey was ready to look after us with a big smile and friendly manner.
A central fireplace gave a cozy look to the all-wood interior. Unfortunately, the acoustics were terrible causing a "cafeteria" sound to the place. Otherwise, it was quite well decorated with scenes we are all familiar with in this part of the world including a real canoe and realistic log-siding on the inside.
The chairs, although all wood, were comfortable with the tables set at an adequate distance from each other to make dining comfortable. Unlike the King's Buffet where everyone is jammed together to maximize the number of customers per square inch, this place felt roomy and warm.
There was a special child's menu which featured photos and descriptions. It was an exceptionally easy-to-read and decipher order system. Our young guy of 5 years had no trouble deciding exactly what he wanted with this menu. Kudos to the Montana's staff for this gem.
In spite of the overall noisiness of the restaurant, the rest of the package made up for the difference.
Our meals were brought in a reasonable time and the service was always extra friendly. Our portions were more than adequate with the food tasting delicious.
At a price of $131.88 before tip and taxes complete with two glasses of wine, the price was reasonable for 4 adults and two children.
Recommended.

Mr. Prime Rib on Barrydowne Road
We had already reserved our place at Mr. Prime Rib restaurant on Barrydowne Road in Sudbury for Tuesday, January 26, 2010. Due to a very busy Christmas season for all involved, this would be the first time we could be together in 2010.
Having been here a few times before, we thought that Mr. Prime Ribe would be an ideal place to start this years adventure.
Anticipation filled the air as we entered the softly lit restaurant and were guided to our table.
Our super-friendly waitress was also super-busy being seemingly over-worked as she rushed around to serve her section of the restaurant. In spite of her hectic pace, she looked after us very well, pausing to ask how we were doing every time she sped by.
She was helped by a young man who brought our perfectly cooked meals to our table along with our drinks and, more importantly, our desert tray.
The decor was similar to the Apollo restaurant with muted tones and ample but unobtrusive lighting. The background music was there but did not intrude on our conversation.
It seemed more like sitting in someone's living room rather than in a restaurant. The tables and chairs were plain but nice with plenty of room between. Quite unlike the King's Buffet where everyone is jammed together to get more people in, this place presented a much more relaxed style.
We started with an appetizer - escargot with cheeze - but it had disappeared before I got a chance to take a photo.
Everyone placed their order and our meals tasted better than we had expected.
The desert tray appealed to several of us as we made our choices from the nicely presented array of sweet things.
Our total bill for 3 adults and one pre-teen was $125.88 before tax and tip with no alcohol.
A very pleasant evening for all.
Highly recommended
