Our First Restaurant
Reported as Closed - Now a Gonga's Grill Restaurant
With my granddaughter, daughter-in-law and my g/f we set out on a plan to visit every restaurant in Sudbury, Ontario.
The plan was simple. We would meet twice a month, choosing a restaurant in the order that they were listed in the 2007 telephone book - yellow pages.
We would only visit restaurants with seating and we would only visit one restaurant in a chain.
The restaurant had to be located in its own area (no food courts) and they all had to have their own washroom.
We are not trained food critics, but we do eat.
UPDATE JUNE 29, 2009
As I passed by this restaurant yesterday, I noticed that it had been replaced by a Gonga's Grill (see review later on)
I don't know if has reopened at another location or not...
Because of privacy concerns, we had to be careful where we took photos. Where we could, we would show the interior of the building but would not show other customers or staff unless they agreed.
We also wanted to show the restrooms and what they looked like. No privacy concerns there since we would not take photos with others present. Unfortunately it looks like we were there just to check out the washrooms - ha ha
On November 22, 2007, we set out for our first restaurant. It sounds strange that we would start out with Cafe Korea, but it was listed as AAA Cafe Korea in the Yellow Pages.
The food was different but very good. The portions were overly-large and served on oval-shaped, deep-dish plates. The bill was $82.75 before tip for 4 people with no alcohol.
The service was excellent, even with only one server in sight. The decor was good although the setting was very plain.
From the exterior it looked like it used to be a convenience store.
Specialty items require a reservation in advance. Even though Lelith is from the Philippines, like the rest of us, she has had little or no experience with Korean food.
Here are the results of that first visit
